As an application engineer, you’ll utilize your strong technical background and superior communication ability to handle everything from collecting market & customer feedback to testing & design review with engineers to assisting internal sales teams with technical proposals that drive new business.
Your Mission
- Deeply research, test, analyze and understand off-highway mobile power systems for multiple applications and industries
- During development, work cross functionally with sales team and engineering to ensure customer needs are met while contributing to technical proposals that drive new business
- Provide technical training, assessments and documentation to support sales team
- While staying abreast of market patterns and changes, create & complete risk assessments in order to forecast future opportunities
- Perform in-depth inspections of all products, including returns and installations
- Utilize root-cause analysis to develop & implement corrective action plans
- Deliver product inspection report to customers
- Champion design reviews including updating documentation & specifications and obtaining formal customer approval
- Examine and investigate recurring product problems or failures
- Continually look for opportunities to improve processes and reduce cost via changes in materials, vendors and overall product design
- Propose suggestions to senior leadership to add to, remove from and/or make adjustments to the current product line
- Leverage data, face-to-face time with customers and background expertise to make educated decisions
- As an expert in the competition, assist sales & marketing personnel with the development of technical documentation and marketing content
- Regularly report on project progress to senior leadership
- Travel up to 50%, some international
A Few Qualifiers
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or similar discipline
- Hands-on experience with hydraulics, drives and other components
- High level of technical expertise with the ability to write technical reports & documents
- Machine testing experience preferred
- Superior written and verbal communication skills
