Our client, an established equipment company, is seeking an Assistant Controller to help bring structure, financial discipline, and dependable reporting to a growing business. This role is designed for someone who can take ownership of the accounting function, maintain a strong handle on financial performance, and help leadership operate with greater visibility and confidence. You will play an important role in helping the business stay financially organized, improving consistency across accounting processes, and ensuring the numbers accurately reflect what is happening across the operation. Success in this position will come from strong accounting judgment, a high level of ownership, and the ability to connect financial detail to broader business performance.
Your Mission:
- Help lead accounting with a strong focus on accuracy, consistency, and financial visibility
- Own the reporting cycle and help ensure leadership has timely financial information that can be trusted
- Review financial performance, recognize where results are shifting, and help uncover the drivers behind those changes
- Oversee the accounting activity that supports the day-to-day movement of the business and keeps records clean and current
- Help ensure revenue and cost activity are reflected properly across the business
- Maintain oversight of payroll-related review and coordination so changes are handled correctly before completion
- Support a complete and accurate financial picture through thoughtful review of entries, adjustments, and period-end activity
- Keep leadership informed on cash position and near-term financial needs to support stronger planning
- Maintain proper accounting treatment across key balance sheet areas tied to company resources and operating activity
- Work closely with outside audit partners by preparing support, organizing documentation, and helping move the process efficiently
- Strengthen internal accounting discipline by improving controls, reinforcing consistency, and helping tighten financial workflows
- Provide day-to-day direction within accounting by reviewing work, supporting development, and helping keep priorities aligned
- Step into issues quickly when something does not reconcile, does not align, or requires deeper financial review
A Few Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- CPA preferred
- Several years of progressive accounting experience with increasing responsibility
- Experience owning close activity and financial reporting
- Strong command of GAAP and overall accounting fundamentals
- Background in a business with inventory, service, rental, or other operational complexity is strongly preferred
- Ability to identify financial issues, work through root causes, and help drive resolution
- Comfort working in a growing business where processes and structure may continue to evolve
- Experience supporting operations across more than one location is preferred
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both leadership and internal teams
- A leadership style that combines accountability, sound judgment, and a hands-on approach
