Drawing on your extensive background in heavy machinery, you will, as Plant Manager, lay the groundwork for the future of manufacturing by overseeing operations, safety and compliance, quality, materials, team development, inventory, and cost. Your Mission
- Approve plans to manage output, control budgets, improve efficiency, and enhance employee relations
- Implement MRP systems and work with suppliers to ensure accurate forecasts and timely component deliveries
- Review performance against goals, provide feedback, and adjust plans as needed
- Prepare and present monthly performance reports to Executive Management
- Develop policies that meet corporate, legal, and safety standards
- Set objectives for operations and create detailed short- and long-term plans with budget requests
- Approve cost control strategies, including forecasts, staffing, and facility needs
- Oversee the creation and approval of manufacturing budgets
- Manage contracts for facility operations, such as waste management and maintenance
- Review and approve budget proposals, finalize budgets, and authorize spending within limits
- Approve major projects that involve significant organizational changes
- Plan for new technologies in manufacturing and ensure support functions align with company goals
- Consult with management on policies, ensure compliance, and suggest improvements
- Set goals and procedures, assign annual objectives, and review management goals
- Select and train personnel, define roles, and ensure responsibilities are understood
- Monitor and evaluate direct reports, coordinate activities, identify training needs, and recommend personnel actions
- Maintain clear communication about company and departmental plans across all levels
- Coordinate with other departments to address issues like product development, workers’ compensation, and inventory management
A Few Qualifiers
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business required; MBA or Master’s in Engineering or Manufacturing preferred
- 10+ years of experience in heavy equipment or a related field involving complex assemblies, welding, machining, and preferably hydraulics
- 3+ years’ experience in manufacturing operations leadership
- Strong administrative and management skills, including people management and team building
- Excellent communication skills, able to engage across all organizational levels
- Proven strong knowledge of Material Management, including Bills of Materials, Sourcing, Purchasing, and Inventory
- Demonstrated experience in new product development and transitioning products to production
