Kristie Stern and Kate Ziek returned from the 2025 AEM Annual Conference with a renewed appreciation for the power of connection within the machinery manufacturing community. The conversations reflected the industry’s current mindset, cautious about the future yet grounded in the resilience that continues to define it.

This sense of shared purpose was reinforced by a moment of pride for our team. We were honored to be recognized as a Silver Honoree in the 2025 AEM Advocacy Awards. Advocacy is not simply a category to be acknowledged. It is a meaningful part of how this industry protects its workforce, supports innovation, and builds the foundation for sustainable long term growth. We are proud to support the Association of Equipment Manufacturers and the many organizations that work to strengthen policies shaping the future of the equipment sector.

Artificial intelligence was a frequent topic throughout the event. While AI can support the work, the shared view remained consistent. Construction and agriculture are people forward industries that rely on relationships, judgment, and trust built over time. Technology can assist, but people keep this industry moving.

Another takeaway came from something simple. Slowing down. Sitting in the sun, catching up with old friends, meeting new ones, and having genuine conversations served as a reminder of what makes this community special. Shared experience, steady support, and the feeling that everyone is part of something bigger.

Two major challenges continued to dominate discussions. Workforce development remains top of mind, with the skilled trades gap still significant. There is optimism that Gen Z may contribute to strengthening the pipeline. Supply chain stability is also a central concern, especially the need for creative problem solvers who understand commodities, components, reshoring, and the level of collaboration required to bring it all together. That blend of skills is rare and in high demand.

The 2025 AEM Annual Conference delivered what so many hoped for. Insightful conversations, meaningful networking, and a palpable sense of connection.

Next year’s conference will take place in Tucson. Thank you to AEM for hosting another thoughtful and inclusive event that brought the industry together in ways that truly matter.
