ConExpo 2023 through the GMLC lens | Las Vegas, NV

ConExpo made a triumphant return in 2023, and we couldn’t have been happier to be there with 139,000 other visitors (a record!) from 133 different countries. Tales from 2020 about early departures, cancellations and empty planes were still being shared, but the tone quickly shifted to this year and how amazing it was to be back! Each of us averaged about 15-20,000 steps a day while meeting new friends, having dinner with old acquaintances, catching a show, riding in underground Teslas, and touching, smelling, hearing & operating heavy machinery. We were also stopped in our tracks several times because this show was about more than just iron! Technology is advancing at a rapid pace. That may sound like an obvious statement in 2023, but the focus on construction-specific advancements is on making the job site better connected, safer, efficient, and environmentally friendly. We couldn’t possibly list them all, but here is a small example – inside West Hall, Komatsu displayed a lineup of electric machines, intelligent machine control, and integration solutions that tie everything together. Outside in the Diamond Lot, Teleo and Moog demonstrated their supervised autonomous technology that included compact track loaders being programmed, operated and monitored from a safe distance. Back inside South Hall, in addition to its Tier 4 Final DieselMax, JCB also displayed an E-Tech electric drivetrain and unveiled its zero-carbon, hydrogen combustion engine. The list of options to help you or your customers power a job site is remarkable.
