Our client, an investment management company focused on distribution to end-users, is seeking a Chief Operating Officer to oversee operations across multiple locations. This high-impact role sits at the c-suite level and will guide operational excellence, performance consistency, and long-term strategic growth across all dealership groups.
As COO, you will lead transformative change, standardize processes, and ensure operational governance across the portfolio. You will provide clear direction for revenue performance, expense management, profitability, cultural alignment, and organizational development. This role is ideal for a proven operational executive experienced in multi-location dealership environments.
Your Mission:
- Build and maintain above-average standards across dealership groups, including brand image, operational consistency, KPI performance, employee and customer experience, and digital presence
- Champion and manage day-to-day operations across multiple portfolio companies, ensuring alignment with strategic goals
- Establish and implement standardized operational policies, procedures, and benchmarks
- Lead operational integration efforts to improve synergy, efficiency, and scalability across the portfolio
- Create and implement operational training programs that support consistency and performance improvement
- Oversee safety management across all companies, ensuring compliance with environmental, regulatory, and corporate safety requirements
- Analyze operational functions to ensure adherence to local, state, and federal laws and regulations
- Routinely visit dealership locations to reinforce a strong, scalable culture and drive continuous improvement
- Develop, oversee, and monitor budgets for all dealerships, including full P&L accountability
- Evaluate KPIs across sales, service, parts, and rental to set goals and drive improved performance
- Support growth initiatives including acquisitions, market expansion, strategic planning, and post-acquisition integration
- Build strategic and profitable relationships with OEM partners and key regional stakeholders
- Identify opportunities for expansion, process improvement, and technological advancement
- Collaborate closely with shared services to enhance operational governance, data visibility, and standardization
- Provide comprehensive operational leadership during restructuring, integration, and new-market development
- Attend industry functions, board meetings, and strategic planning sessions representing the operational arm of the organization
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 10 or more years of progressive operational experience within equipment dealerships, heavy equipment, construction machinery, or a related sector
- 5 or more years of proven senior leadership experience with strong decision-making capability
- Demonstrated success leading multi-location operations with full P&L accountability
- Strong understanding of sales, service, parts, rental, inventory, and dealership financials
- Experience in a multi-entity, holding-company, or portfolio-structured environment preferred
- Expertise in standardizing processes, managing KPIs, and driving operational transformation
- Strong analytical and data-driven problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency with business systems such as DMS, ERP, CRM, telematics, and business intelligence tools
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence executives, boards, and cross-functional teams
- Strong understanding of business financials and operations management
