Our client, a long-established heavy lift and specialized transportation company, is looking for a Chief Operating Officer to drive operational excellence and support future succession planning. This is a high-impact operational leadership role with a clear succession path to President, offering the opportunity to shape long-term performance, unify diverse divisions, and strengthen the overall health of the organization.
As COO, you will serve as the single point of contact for each division, guiding operational standards, financial stewardship, and day-to-day execution across locations of different sizes and needs. You will bring disciplined P&L leadership, strong managerial oversight, and the ability to align experienced operational teams around shared expectations and best practices. This role requires a collaborative leader who supports subject matter experts and helps create a consistent and respectful culture across the organization.
Your Mission
- Lead all operational activity across each division and establish a clear point of contact for daily execution
- Set and uphold performance expectations rooted in safety, quality, and customer service
- Drive operational alignment by standardizing best practices across diverse teams and environments
- Oversee budgets, margins, cost control, and overall financial performance
- Strengthen cross-functional communication and ensure each division receives the support it needs
- Build trust with experienced operators and empower teams to share insight and operational expertise
- Prepare the organization for long-term leadership transition by developing repeatable processes and strong internal accountability
A Few Qualifications
- Proven P&L leadership experience in a multi-division or multi-location environment
- Ability to manage teams with different needs, sizes, and operational maturity
- Experience in heavy lift, transportation, industrial services, or a related field is helpful
- Strong ability to listen, collaborate, and work closely with operational experts
- Demonstrated success building unified cultures and managing through organizational change
- Clear leadership presence with the ability to influence, align, and support teams across the company
- Strong communication skills and comfort representing the organization at various levels
