Our client, a global component manufacturer, is seeking a relationship-driven strategist with the perfect mix of technical knowledge, business savvy, and sales expertise to be their Director of Business Development in the Greater Midwest. Utilizing your experience as a motivating leader, you will also have the opportunity to supervise a sales force, offering guidance through training, participating in ride-a-longs, and actively attending trade shows and events.

In this role, you’ll identify and nurture OEM opportunities, forge lasting partnerships, and develop strategies to drive sales. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact by leading initiatives that expand the company’s presence in long-term projects and high-growth markets.

Your Mission

  • Actively work with territory sales teams to influence business decisions that expand the company footprint while ensuring alignment with company strategies and goals
  • Develop and execute comprehensive business plans to grow relationships with OEM customers
  • Research and analyze market patterns, customer needs, and competitive dynamics to identify high-value opportunities
  • Foster strong partnerships with engineers, procurement teams, and executives, positioning the company as a trusted, long-term supplier
  • Negotiate profitable, long-term agreements that drive revenue while ensuring sustainable growth
  • Track leads, opportunities, and sales agreements using CRM, ensuring thorough follow-through on all initiatives
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to deliver innovative solutions that meet customer expectations and revenue goals
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, proposing enhancements to the product line and sales strategy to address market demands
  • Provide actionable feedback to internal teams to drive innovation, improve offerings, and refine processes
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and actively forecast opportunities to guide strategic decisions
  • Represent the company at trade shows and industry events, building visibility and strengthening relationships

A Few Qualifiers

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience in business development or sales, with a focus on OEM relationships
  • Proven coaching, leadership, & team management experience with the ability to motivate others
  • Documented success in managing complex sales cycles and driving revenue growth
  • Demonstrated knowledge of CRM systems
  • Strong knowledge of the manufacturing processes
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and strategic thinking skills
  • Willingness to travel up to 80%
