This dynamic role on the senior leadership team reports to top executive leadership and serves as the architect of the company’s rental vision. With a clear objective to amplify revenue and profitability, your acumen in the rental sector will be vital in optimizing fleet investments, boosting utilization, and unlocking the full potential of dealer partnerships.
Your Mission:
- Define the enterprise-wide rental playbook and see it through from concept to execution in support of corporate growth targets
- Stand up and grow a centralized rental function, putting the right people, tools, workflows, and accountability structures in place
- Set the standards by which the network operates, from performance benchmarks and governance to proven operating practices
- Win the confidence of independent dealer principals, serving as their go-to resource on the economics of rental and the returns it can deliver
- Make the case that a healthy rental business feeds the entire ecosystem, creating downstream machine sales, service work, and parts demand
- Coach dealerships at every stage of rental maturity on structuring and running a profitable local rental operation
- Carry full responsibility for rental financial results at the corporate level
- Architect go-to-market and selling motions powered by CRM, lead-flow systems, and competitive intelligence that put actionable opportunities in front of sellers
- Apply analytics and valuation data to shape decisions on what equipment to carry, how to price it, when to turn it, and where to deploy it
- Build the financial frameworks that justify capital deployment and demonstrate return on invested fleet dollars
- Instill a results-oriented selling culture grounded in ownership, follow-through, and numbers that matter
- Put measurement systems in place that track how the business is really performing, from pricing discipline and plan attainment to new customer wins, cost recovery, asset productivity, and retention
- Give leadership real-time line of sight into selling activity, pipeline strength, and emerging opportunities through dashboards and CRM tooling
- Stay ahead of the competitive landscape, reading market shifts and rival strategies to keep the organization out front
- Grow the next generation of leaders through mentorship, succession work, and ongoing development
- Travel extensively
A Few Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in a business-related or technical discipline; advanced degree a plus
- Two decades or more of rising leadership responsibility in rental, construction equipment, dealership, or manufacturer settings
- A track record of building and meaningfully growing rental businesses from the corporate seat
- A history of moving independent business owners to action through persuasion and relationship-building rather than positional authority
- Firsthand familiarity with how the major rental players run their businesses
- Data-driven operator with command of CRM, lead-flow, and fleet valuation analytics
- Years of full P&L responsibility, including financial modeling at both the corporate and store level
