Our client, a leading equipment dealer, is seeking a strategic and results-driven Director of Rental to shape the future of their rental division. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for driving profitable growth, elevating operational standards, and delivering an exceptional customer experience across multiple branches. You will set the vision for rental strategy, optimize fleet performance, and lead a talented team while partnering closely with Sales, Service, and Fleet to strengthen market presence and performance.
Your Mission:
- Oversee the rental division P&L to drive profitability, maximize utilization, and grow revenue
- Shape and implement business strategies that align with company goals and strengthen market position
- Track and analyze key performance indicators including utilization, time to rent, margins, and re-rent ratios to guide decision-making
- Establish consistent rental processes across all branches to deliver a seamless customer experience
- Direct fleet allocation to optimize availability and ROI while coordinating major repairs and equipment transfers
- Assess rental rates, freight charges, and market trends to maintain a competitive edge
- Lead and develop a team of Rental Coordinators and administrative support, fostering accountability and service excellence
- Collaborate with Sales to expand rental revenue streams and support rental purchase opportunities
- Partner with Service and Parts teams to ensure maintenance is timely, damage is managed effectively, and the fleet remains ready for use
- Work closely with Branch Managers to align local rental operations with company standards and objectives
- Build lasting customer relationships, identify opportunities for growth, and reduce lost rentals through proactive forecasting
A Few Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 7+ years of demonstrated leadership experience in heavy equipment rental
- Demonstrated success owning a P&L and consistently driving profitable growth
- Recognized ability to lead, inspire, develop, and hold teams accountable for results
- Strong business acumen paired with sharp analytical and sound decision-making skills
- Clear and confident communicator who can engage effectively with employees, customers, and senior leadership
- Skilled in Microsoft Office and experienced with rental management software
