Our client, a well-established organization in the equipment industry, is seeking a Vice President of Rental to lead the continued development and performance of its rental business. This executive will have broad responsibility for building a stronger, more scalable rental operation while balancing growth, financial performance, fleet investment, customer needs, and long-term business strategy.

This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for someone who understands rental from both a commercial and operational perspective. The Vice President of Rental will work across a multi-location organization, bringing greater consistency to how the business operates while giving local teams the direction and resources needed to compete effectively in their markets. Success will require strong business judgment, a deep understanding of equipment rental economics, and the ability to turn strategy into measurable results.

Your Mission

  • Establish the long-term direction of the rental business and translate that vision into practical growth initiatives across multiple markets
  • Take ownership of overall rental performance, with a strong focus on revenue expansion, margin improvement, asset returns, and sustainable profitability
  • Determine where the organization should invest, expand, reposition resources, or pursue new opportunities based on market potential and business performance
  • Create a disciplined approach to fleet investment that balances customer demand, capital requirements, equipment lifecycle, and financial return
  • Improve the productivity of rental assets by identifying opportunities to strengthen utilization, availability, deployment, and equipment turnover
  • Develop commercial strategies that position the rental business competitively while protecting margins and supporting long-term customer relationships
  • Build a consistent operating framework that allows individual locations to execute effectively while maintaining clear enterprise-wide expectations
  • Use financial and operational data to identify performance gaps, prioritize opportunities, and guide leadership decisions
  • Strengthen coordination between rental and other areas of the business to create a more connected customer experience and maximize opportunities across the organization
  • Stay close to customers and changing market conditions, ensuring the business can respond quickly to shifts in demand and competitive activity
  • Lead by establishing clear priorities, communicating effectively, and keeping teams aligned around common business objectives
  • Champion continuous improvement across the rental operation, challenging existing practices when better approaches can improve performance, efficiency, or customer experience
  • Maintain a strong focus on operational discipline, equipment readiness, risk management, and safe business practices as the rental operation grows

A Few Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience within equipment rental, equipment distribution, dealership operations, or a related industry
  • Proven experience leading and growing a multi-location rental business
  • Strong P&L experience with responsibility for revenue, profitability, budgeting, forecasting, and capital investment
  • Deep understanding of rental fleet management, utilization, lifecycle planning, and asset performance
  • Experience building scalable processes and improving performance across a distributed organization
  • Strong understanding of the relationship between rental, sales, service, parts, and overall equipment operations
