Our client, a global construction OEM, is seeking a Design Engineer to support the continued development and improvement of its equipment portfolio. You will bring proven heavy equipment design experience to the engineering team, helping strengthen existing products while contributing new ideas and industry knowledge to future machine development.
This is an opportunity to bring established heavy equipment design practices into a team looking to take its products to the next level. You will draw on what you have learned designing machinery for demanding applications to challenge existing approaches, introduce new ideas, and help create better solutions across the equipment portfolio.
Your Mission
- Design and develop components and mechanical systems for new and existing heavy equipment
- Evaluate current machine designs and identify opportunities to improve performance, reliability, functionality, and manufacturability
- Apply heavy equipment industry knowledge and proven design practices to help advance the company’s product development capabilities
- Support new product development from initial concepts through design, testing, validation, and production
- Use engineering analysis, simulation, testing, and field feedback to evaluate designs and guide improvements
- Work closely with manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and other engineering teams to ensure designs can be effectively carried into production
- Investigate product and component issues, determine root causes, and develop appropriate design solutions
- Evaluate supplier components and designs for performance, quality, integration, and manufacturability
- Support engineering standards, documentation, and processes that improve consistency across product development programs
- Collaborate with global engineering teams while contributing insight into the needs of the North American market
A Few Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field
- Proven hands-on design engineering experience with heavy equipment
- Strong mechanical design background with experience developing components and systems from concept through production
- Experience with engineering analysis, testing, root cause investigation, and design improvement
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and other technical teams
