Our client, an established manufacturer serving the heavy equipment industry, is seeking a Lead Structural Systems Engineer to provide senior-level technical leadership in the development of mining equipment. This role will focus on the structural performance, durability, and integrity of machines operating in some of the industry’s most demanding environments.
Utilizing your deep structural engineering experience and understanding of severe-duty equipment, you will help shape critical machine structures from early development through testing and field validation. You will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and field teams to ensure designs perform reliably under the demanding loads and operating conditions associated with mining applications.
Your Mission:
- Provide technical direction for structural development across large mining equipment programs
- Evaluate how major machine structures perform under demanding loads, repeated stress, vibration, and severe operating conditions
- Influence design decisions that improve durability, service life, manufacturability, and overall equipment performance
- Guide teams through complex challenges involving welded assemblies, materials, joints, and other highly loaded structures
- Combine engineering analysis, physical testing, and field feedback to identify opportunities for stronger and more reliable designs
- Lead the resolution of structural concerns identified during development, testing, or equipment operation
- Work closely with manufacturing and supplier teams to turn engineering concepts into practical, production-ready solutions
- Help strengthen structural engineering methods and technical practices that can be applied across future equipment programs
A Few Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, structural engineering, or a related discipline, with an advanced degree preferred
- Significant experience developing structural systems for mining equipment, heavy machinery, or other severe-duty off-highway applications
- Strong understanding of welded structures, materials, loading behavior, fatigue, and long-term durability
- Working knowledge of FEA, CAE, and other tools used to assess structural performance
- Experience supporting prototype development, testing, structural investigations, and design improvement
- Strong engineering judgment with the ability to translate complex technical findings into practical equipment solutions
